Energy Certification existing buildings, still waiting

The last cabinet meeting of the year has passed concerning their net balance and it seems to be left without the funds for R&D to establish energy certification of existing buildings. Although the European directive 2010/31 EU indicated this year 2012 as the deadline for transposition into national law, Spain has not met this obligation. Without going into the legal consequences of this breach, Spain must be resolved within the European institutions. What concerns us more is that a sector with a strong potential for job creation is delayed by the regulations that would give it a robust foundation. Likewise, the energy certification of existing buildings helps to fulfill two of the three European 20/20/20 objectives – energy efficiency and the reduction of greenhouse gases – these certifications will be a wonderful catalyst for the process of comprehensive reforms of buildings. Regarding a strong influence for lowering energy consumption with air conditioning, lighting and hot water.
